Vampire Bagel

This is the perfect way to serve breakfast to give someone a little laugh around the spooky holiday. This bagel only requires a few ingredients and is one that is fun to make. It is festive for halloween and a silly way to serve your early morning bagel.

Choosing the Perfect Bagel for Your Vampire Creation

When it comes to crafting your spooky vampire bagel, the bagel you choose sets the stage for the entire look and the bite. Start with a bagel that gives off eerie elegance: a deep pumpernickel or black cocoa bagel creates a dark, dramatic backdrop that makes those “fangs” and red jam “blood” really pop. If you prefer a lighter tone and a touch of contrast, a plain or everything bagel can mimic a pale, vampire-like complexion, perfect for a playful twist. Mini bagels are great for party platters and kid-friendly versions, while full-sized ones let you go all out with toppings and details. Whatever you choose, make sure it is fresh, slightly firm, and ready to rise from the breakfast table looking frightfully delicious.

Cream Cheese with a Bite: Flavor Pairing Sides for Vampire Bagels

Let your Vampire Bagels take center stage with side flavors that add drama and depth to the plate. Think crisp red apple slices, roasted cherry tomatoes, or a handful of ruby pomegranate seeds for a pop of color and freshness. For a wholesome touch, add a side of turkey bacon or a hard boiled egg to bring satisfying texture and protein. For a touch of elegance, pair with dark berries or cinnamon-dusted grapes. These hauntingly beautiful sides not only enhance the flavor but also build a breakfast spread that looks straight out of a Halloween storybook, perfectly balanced between spooky and sophisticated.

Red “Blood” Spreads: Beet Hummus, Strawberry Jam, and More

I like to add a little “blood” under the fangs of this recipe for a bite of flavor and some color. In this recipe, I use jam, but some other options are :

  • roasted red pepper cream cheese
  • sun dried tomato pesto
  • sirracha
  • beet hummus
