  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar

  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg (optional)

  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch

  • ¼ cup water

For the Cinnamon Sugar Chips

  • 26 small flour tortillas

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (or cooking spray)

  • ¼ cup granulated sugar

  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  • Apple Salsa:
    1. 1. In a small saucepan, combine the diced apples, lemon juice, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
    2. In a separate bowl, whisk the cornstarch with the ¼ cup water until smooth. Add it to the apples.
    3. Cook over medium heat for 5–7 minutes, stirring often, until the apples soften and the mixture thickens into a glossy, pie-like filling.
    4. Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Serve warm or chilled.
  • Cinnamon Sugar Chips
    1. Preheat oven to 400°F (204°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment.
    2. In a small bowl, mix the cinnamon and sugar.
    3. Brush both sides of each tortilla lightly with melted butter (or spray with cooking spray).
    4. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture generously over both sides.
    5. Cut tortillas into triangles (like cutting a pizza).
    6. Arrange on the baking sheet in a single layer and bake for 8–10 minutes, or until crisp and golden.
    7. Let cool completely, they get even crispier as they cool.
