Spooky Spider Cheesy Mushrooms

This is perfect for any event where you want a spooky and creepy appetizer. The olives make perfect little black spiders that look like they are crawling over the cheesy mushrooms. This appetizer may look spooky, but it is delicious and a perfect finger food!

Turning Mushrooms into Spiders

Turning black olives into spiders is easier than it looks and adds the perfect spooky touch to your cheesy mushrooms. Start by slicing one olive in half lengthwise to form the spider’s body. Then take another olive and cut it into thin strips to create the legs. Arrange four legs on each side of the halved olive so it looks like the spider is crawling right across the mushroom top. The glossy black color of the olives gives a natural, eerie shine that stands out against the melted cheese, making each bite a little work of Halloween art

Benefits of Using the Airfryer

Using an air fryer for your spooky spider cheesy mushrooms makes the process quick, easy, and extra tasty. The circulating hot air helps the mushrooms cook evenly while giving the cheese a bubbly, golden top without turning soggy. It’s a great way to get that irresistible roasted flavor in just minutes, especially if you’re prepping for a busy Halloween night. Plus, the air fryer keeps the kitchen cool and cleanup simple, so you can focus on decorating your spooky spread and enjoying the fun instead of standing over the oven.

Cheese Please!

Choosing the right cheese can make all the difference when stuffing mushrooms for your spooky spider bites. Cream cheese creates a smooth, creamy filling that holds everything together, while shredded mozzarella adds that perfect melty stretch. For a richer flavor, try mixing in a bit of sharp cheddar or tangy feta. Goat cheese brings a subtle tang that pairs beautifully with earthy mushrooms, and a sprinkle of Parmesan on top gives a savory, slightly crisp finish as it bakes. You can mix and match cheeses to suit your taste, but in this recipe I just use shredded mozzerella and parmesan.
